WinXP Hang on Idling
If you have a WinXP System hang after idling for a short time or sometimes...
these are the solution to check out:
"Do you have / use a screensaver or have you set some power saving option in Control Panel's Power Options. Like turning off the hard disk after xxx amount of idle time?
Go to Control Panel >>Appearance and Themes >> next select Display >> look at Screen Saver tab.
Is it set to power off the hard drive after xx amount of idle time ?
Control Panel >> Performance and Maintenance >> Power Options.
Right-Click the My Computer icon on desktop. Select Properties.
Next, select Advanced. Look for a block that says Startup and recovery. Press the settings button.
In System failure section, turn off (un-check) Automatically restart. Apply change."
Happy learning and trying... kindly post your question if any.

Email Address Autofill
My friend was asking me... if i would like my Outlook to auto complete email addresses I start to type in the "To:" field. Currently it wasnt doing so... Like typing A, all contacts starting with A will appear etc.
The answer is:
To turn on this feature, so that addresses are suggested. Go to Tools pull-down menu, choose Options, then click the E-Mail Options button, and the Advanced E-mail Options button. Check the box for "Suggest names while completing the To, Cc and Bcc fields.
Hope that it helps those who see my blogs too.
Have a nice day!

My doubt has clear!
Few days ago, I received a complaint regarding a PC running on WinXP stuck or hang at "Loading your personal setting...". This issue was indeed bothering me for few months. Then, it comes back again. Formatting a system is not recommended solution since it has been formatted once.
There must be something that triggers this to happen. When surfing on google, client of mine is not the only person who is facing this problem. There are lots of XP users are actually having this night mare.
Solutions that I would recommended my client or I help my client to solve:
1st Solution:
Control panel > system > advanced > user profiles
It can be fixed by changing Roaming profile to Local.
2nd Solution:
If the issue is not present in safe mode, then check this registry keys and post info:
HkeyLM > software > microsoft > windows > current version > run
HkeyLM > software > microsoft > windows > current version > runonce
HkeyCU > software > microsoft > windows > current version > run
HkeyCU > software > microsoft > windows > current version > runonce
The only entries on the right panels should be ab(Default).
3rd Solution:
Start > at run type "cmd".
In the command prompt type "sfc /scannow"
This one need a WinXP CD to be able to perform the scan. If there is any registry corupted, it will automattically fix it and recover the system.
Hopefully it does help for my blog reader.
Today evening, I hear back from my client. He said "Marko, it is good that my PC doesn't fall into the problem now. It has been two days from the day you fixed it. I will continue to monitor and feedback to you. Thank you very much!".
I am glad to hear that my client is happy with my service and the solution that I have provided to him. Yeah!!... this is encourageble. If any of you found a solution towards the same problem but different from my solutions listed above, do help to comment and we learning together.
Adios....

Problem that annoyed me...
Recently I have got a client sent in his PC. His problem are,
1) Mouse will get hang or jam
2) PC will go restart without any notification
Things that he has attempt to do:
1) Change the power supply -- done.
2) Install a new 2G RAM -- done. Total now is 3G RAM running on WinXP.
What bothers me are,
1) His old 1GB RAM.
2) His CPU over heated.
However, I have been diagnosed his PC problem with the following steps.
1) unplug is old 1GB RAM. Leaving new 2GB RAM. --> problem still exist!
2) I am afraid his CPU temp hit the thermal throttling. So i remove his heat sink and fan. Clean it and put a new thermal heat sink compound.
Unfortunately, he called back after two days. "how come my PC still goes automatically restart while i am surfing internet half way?"
What a wonderful question! hmmm.. apparently I don know what the heck shall I do further. Any suggestion?
First thing may come up in my mind. Reformat his operating system see if it works. I am afraid there is something behind that triggers the system to restart.
Any mode of suggestion is welcome for the solution finding.

Bootable USB
A great help from laughingbro introduction for USB bootable device. It is more convenient compare to boot from CD. This is rather faster than CD and more suitable for netbook user. It is also a good practice for "Go Green activity!". hehehe.. I am environmental lover. Keep it green!
You may try the same.
1. Download Ubuntu Netbook Remix.iso file
2. Create your UNR flash drive
Windows User
- Windows installer: liveusb-creator-3.9.1-setup.exe (7.9M)
3. Follow the instruction on the fly to setup your bootable USB.
Then you are done!
Reboot your PC and Press F12 to go into Boot Menu (different laptop or PC may have different key) . Select your option with USB boot.
Then there you go...Enjoy the installation on your netbook/PC!
